Competition under the slogan “SAVE THE NATURE –SAVE THE WORLD!”
On October 22, 2024, a competition under the slogan “Save the Nature –Save the World!” on the topic “International Organizations on Environmental Issues” was held at the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan by the “EcoClub” circle of the Department of World Languages. It was aimed to expand the environmental horizons of the younger generation, develop patriotism, a sense of love and respect for nature, and popularize the principles of environmental protection and on the occasion of the 79th anniversary of foundation of the United Nations, among first-year students of the Institute’s faculties.
According to the first task of the competition, teams were required to submit presentations on topics related to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, protection of biodiversity and ecosystems, combating desertification, climate change, protection of the ozone layer, protection and use of transboundary watercourses and international lakes, the UNESCO Convention on the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage and the activities of international organizations on environmental issues arising from these tasks. As the second task of the competition, students demonstrated their skills in the field of painting and decorations. As the third task of the competition, students were worked on questionnaires about the UN and its organizations operating in the field of environmental protection.
The teams demonstrated high preparedness for the competition. At the end, the jury announced the winners. The team from the Faculty of International Economic Relations took first place, the team from the Faculty of International Law - the second place, and the team from the Faculty of International Journalism took the third place. Participants also stated that the competition made a great impression on them, arousing great interest in them to continue studying the problems of ecology and environmental protection.
The competition participants expressed deep gratitude to the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Hero-Arkadag and our respected President of Arkadagly, Hero Serdar, for the created opportunities for studying in higher educational institutions and getting an education that meets world standards.
