DEMONSTRATION CLASS THROUGH THE DIGITAL NETWORK ON THE TOPIC: "GAME ADDICTION AND NOMOPHOBIA"
On October 22, 2025, online demonstration class on "Game Addiction and Nomophobia" was held at the Myrat Garryev Turkmen State Medical University. It was organized by faculty and students of higher education institution. Faculty members and students of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan actively participated in this demonstration class.
During the lesson, the speakers noted that during the Revival of a New Era of a Powerful State, our youth gets modern education and professional training and great opportunities which are created for young specialties to engage in creative activities. They also noted that the implementation of the 'Concept for the Development of the Digital Education System in Turkmenistan' creates the conditions for the modern development of the national education system as the digital system provides convenient access to electronic information and significantly reduces the time users spend on study searches.
The demonstration class provided an in-depth discussion on two key factors: making effective use of the internet's expanding opportunities, and the importance of avoiding excessive dependence on digital devices and games that can negatively affect a person's psychology. The instructors explained that excessive passion for computer games often stems from various factors, including a desire to fulfill information hunger, specific personality traits, escape from reality, social isolation, the influence of upbringing, forced limits on social activity, and in some cases, severe mental illness.
For example, it was explained that excessive digital media use and computer gaming can lead to detrimental psychological effects, such as a lack of empathy, anxiety, low self-esteem, and depression. The speakers further emphasized that pre-existing conditions - like a predisposition to depressive states, introversion, an inability to solve problems, and difficulty coping with stress - can be compounded by this excessive use, severely complicating an individual's adaptation to social life. Overall, this lesson proved to be highly effective and useful for the students.
