Discussion of comprehensive issues in the framework of the UN Office on Drugs and Crime
On June 30, 2021, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) held a meeting under the «Prevention of Corruption» program to discuss the prevention of youth crime. The meeting was held within the framework of the UN Office on Drugs and Crime program «Fair Criminal Justice, Crime and Corruption» with the participation of the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, International University for the Humanities and Development of Turkmenistan, teachers of secondary schools of the country and representatives of the Turkmen mass media. The meeting was held in a hybrid format, during which representatives of the countries higher educational institutions, teachers of secondary schools made presentations about their activities.
During the meeting, representatives of international organizations, as well as foreign representatives, namely the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Republic of Kazakhstan, also took part and made presentations. The curriculum of the so-called “Education for Justice” was developed by UNODC in cooperation with UNESCO in accordance with the resolution of the 13th UN Conference on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice, held in Doha, Qatar, in 2015.
The Doha Declaration, adopted by Congress, demonstrates the importance of the rule of law for children and youth, crime prevention and the development of a legal culture. In support of this, UNODC developed the Doha Declaration to develop and disseminate its work in primary and secondary education. Based on the above, the program also discussed future work.
