MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS OF TURKMENISTAN INSTITUTE OF INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS
Admits students for the 2026/2027 academic year in the following specialties (Specialist programs) and fields of study (Bachelor's programs):
I. Specialist Program (state-funded basis):
Mass Media and Information-Library Studies (Specialty: International Journalism)
II. Specialist Program (Fee-paying basis):
1. Political Sciences and Regional Studies (Specialty: International Relations and Diplomacy)
2. Legal Studies (Specialty: International Law)
3. Economics and Management (Specialty: International Economic Relations)
III. Bachelor’s Program (Fee-paying basis):
1. Political Sciences and Regional Studies (Field of study: International Relations)
2. Legal Studies (Field of study: International Law)
3. Economics and Management (Field of study: International Economics)
4. Mass Media and Information-Library Studies (Field of study: Political Communication and Internet Journalism)
Citizens of Turkmenistan with an education level of no less than general secondary education and not older than 35 years of age are admitted to the Institute on a competitive basis based on the results of entrance examinations.
Official documents are accepted in velayat (regional) centers and in the city of Ashgabat (for the cities of Ashgabat and Arkadag) from July 13 to July 26, 2026.
List of Official Documents:
- An application addressed to the Rector in the prescribed form;
- A questionnaire (application form) in the prescribed form;
- A document on education (original copy);
- A health certificate in the form prescribed by the Ministry of Healthcare and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan;
- A reference letter (character reference) from the last place of study (place of work, or military unit);
- Eight photographs measuring 3x4 cm;
- For employed applicants, a certified copy of the employment record book (labor book);
- Winners of the State Academic Olympiad for school students and members of the national teams of Turkmenistan who participated in international competitions submit the original copy of the relevant document confirming these circumstances.
In addition to the documents listed above, applicants must present the following to the admissions committee and submit their copies:
- Passport;
- Military ID card or military registration certificate.
An applicant may present other documents confirming that they qualify for non-competitive admission and/or a preferential right to admission.
Applicants bear personal responsibility for providing incorrect information and forged official documents.
Entrance examinations and admission to the Institute (in the city of Ashgabat) are conducted during the following periods:
- Ahal Velayat: July 29, 30, and 31;
- Ashgabat and Arkadag Cities: July 30, 31, and August 1 and 2;
- Dashoguz Velayat: August 1, 2, and 3;
- Lebap Velayat: August 2, 3, and 4;
- Mary Velayat: August 3, 4, and 5;
- Balkan Velayat: August 4, 5, and 6.
Entrance examinations are conducted in the following academic subjects:
- Specialties and fields of study: International Relations and Diplomacy; International Relations; International Law – English, History of Turkmenistan, Turkmen Language and Literature;
- Specialty: International Economic Relations; Field of study: International Economics – English, Mathematics, History of Turkmenistan;
- Specialty: International Journalism; Field of study: Political Communication and Internet Journalism – English, Turkmen Language and Literature, History of Turkmenistan.
Entrance examinations for academic subjects are conducted on the basis of the curricula of secondary schools of Turkmenistan.
With the exception of subjects conducted in the respective foreign language, entrance examinations for all other academic subjects are conducted orally in the state language.
Applicants who fail to appear for the examinations at the time specified in the entrance examination schedule without valid reasons, or those who fail to pass the examination in one of the academic subjects, will not be admitted to subsequent examinations.
Applicants who successfully pass the entrance examinations and meet the rules established in the amended version of the Law of Turkmenistan “On Education” shall enjoy non-competitive admission and/or a preferential right to admission as a student.
