International initiatives of Turkmenistan are recognized by the United Nations
President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has put forward international initiatives to promote the harmonious development of all countries of the world by pursuing a wise policy aimed at the integrity of the world in the new historical conditions of the 21st century. As is known, these initiatives were put forward by the President of Turkmenistan in September 2020 during a speech at the 75th anniversary session of the United Nations General Assembly. As a result, during the 59th meeting of the 75th session of the UN General Assembly on April 16, 2021, the Resolution entitled "The Role of the United Nations Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia" was unanimously adopted on the initiative of Turkmenistan. Being a unique platform for large-scale work, the UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia makes a significant contribution to the advancement of regional dialogue on current issues. The effectiveness of the work of the Center in the Central Asian region is also noted in the relevant UN General Assembly resolution adopted on November 10, 2017, on the initiative of Turkmenistan, dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the Center.
A special document on international transport corridors has been developed at the initiative of Turkmenistan aimed at the implementation of important international transport initiatives of our highly respected President. As is known, the Resolution “Strengthening the links between all modes of transport to achieve stable and reliable international transport for sustainable development during and after the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic” initiated by Turkmenistan was adopted in the framework of the 96th plenary assembly of the 75th session of the UN General Assembly, and the Resolution was cosponsored by 48 states. This document supplemented the Resolutions on interaction between all types of transport initiated by Turkmenistan and adopted in 2014, 2015 and 2017. It is noted that the principles set out in the Resolution are in line with the process of establishing a comprehensive system of transport relations, which began in November 2016 in Ashgabat as a result of the first United Nations Conference on Sustainable Transport.
On August 6, 2021, a consecutive Consultative Meeting of the Heads of States of Central Asia was held on the Turkmen coast of the Caspian Sea. In addition to the above-mentioned Forum, a dialogue of Women of Central Asian countries was held within the framework of the aforementioned Forum. The Joint Statement on the results of the consultative meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia was adopted. Following the results of the Women's Dialogue, the Declaration of the Dialogue of Women of Central Asian Countries was also adopted. Moreover, the Joint Statement of the consultative meeting of the Heads of States of Central Asia and the Declaration on the Dialogue of Women of Central Asian Countries were as a document of the 75th session of the UN General Assembly and published in the official languages of the United Nations and distributed among member states. This is a clear indication of the importance of the Central Asian platform in advancing regional development.
On September 9, 2021, at the initiative of Turkmenistan, the Resolution entitled "Cooperation between the United Nations and Economic Cooperation Organization" was unanimously adopted by the member states of the United Nations at the 102nd plenary meeting of the 75th session of the United Nations General Assembly. As is known, the 15th Summit of the Heads of member States of the Economic Cooperation Organization will be held in Ashgabat on November 28 in this year. Neutral Turkmenistan sets forth significant initiatives and projects to make regional cooperation within the framework of major international organizations, including Economic Cooperation Organization, a constructive one. This creates a solid foundation for fruitful relations for a long-term future.
Thus, as a result of the consistent efforts of our esteemed President, important international initiatives are the cornerstone of the development of our foreign policy.
