From October 14 to 25, 2024, the 3rd special training sessions for diplomats from Central Asian countries were held at the Sushma Swaraj Institute of Foreign Service, Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India. Meylis Nepesov and Meylis Gylyshayev, lecturers from the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, represented their country during these training sessions. In 2015, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Sushma Swaraj Institute of Diplomatic Service, Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India.
Professors, politicians, and diplomats spoke during the training sessions on specially defined topics relevant to diplomats from Central Asian countries in India. The Sushma Swaraj Institute of Diplomatic Service discussed India’s activities in foreign policy, as well as topics related to the high-level relations with Central Asian countries. Other subjects included the country's domestic digital education infrastructure, energy policy, and environmental protection. During the sessions, participants received satisfactory answers to their questions of interest. Additionally, various cultural activities were organized for the participants, such as visits to the museum and library of the Prime Minister of India, the Maruti-Suzuki automobile manufacturing company, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of India, and cultural and historical sites in Jaipur.
On the last day of the course, representatives from the Central Asian countries made presentations introducing their nations. At the end of the event, Raj Kumar Srivastava, Dean of the Sushma Swaraj Institute of Diplomatic Service, distributed certificates to the participants and took commemorative photographs. Holding such training sessions is vital for enhancing the professional development of young professionals and strengthening international relations among countries.
The relations between Turkmenistan and the Republic of India date back to ancient history and continue today with renewed significance.
