The Introductory Ceremony Dedicated to the Translation of Magtymguly Pyragy’s Collection of Poems into the Uzbek Language
On October 16, 2024, the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan hosted an introductory ceremony dedicated to the translation of a collection of poems by the great Eastern philosopher and poet Magtymguly Pyragy into the Uzbek language. In connection with this event, an exhibition showcasing the cultural values of the Turkmen and Uzbek peoples was organized in the main building of the institute. This exhibition, reflecting the valuable cultural heritage of the two brotherly nations, left a pleasant impression on the participants.
During the ceremony, speeches were delivered by Bahrom Abduhalimov, Vice-President of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan; Gayrat Majidov, Deputy Chairman of the Writers' Union of the Republic of Uzbekistan; Inom Majidov, Rector of the Mirzo Ulugbek National University of Uzbekistan; Bahodir Karimov, Professor of the Alisher Navoi University of Uzbek Language and Literature; Ergash Ochilov, Scientific Researcher of the Institute of Uzbek Language, Literature, and Folklore of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan; Atajan Burunov, Head of the Department of Social Sciences of the Magtymguly Turkmen State University; Kakajan Janbekov, Scientific Secretary of the Magtymguly Institute of Language, Literature, and National Manuscripts of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan; and Oguloraz Eyeberdiyeva, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Theory and Practice of Journalism of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
The speeches extensively highlighted the significance of translating Magtymguly Pyragy’s collection of poems into Uzbek, particularly in the year 2024, which is celebrated under the slogan “Fount of Wisdom Magtymguly Pyragy.”
It was also noted that on October 11 of this year, during the high-level international forum titled “Interconnection of Epochs and Civilizations: The Foundation of Peace and Development” held in honor of the 300th anniversary of Magtymguly Pyragy, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, presented the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Hero Arkadag, with the Uzbek translation of the book “Magtymguly” as a gift – an event of great pride.
The speakers further emphasized that, along with many other countries, Uzbekistan holds the classical poet's work in high esteem, and a Decree by the President of Uzbekistan was issued to celebrate the 300th anniversary of the great Turkmen poet and philosopher Magtymguly Pyragy. The translation of his collection of poems into Uzbek was hailed as a clear testament to the ongoing development of cultural and humanitarian relations between the two brotherly nations. The performances of various songs and musical pieces by Uzbek artists during the ceremony enhanced the overall impact of the event.
This ceremony also served as a clear demonstration of the global recognition of the works of the great philosopher and master of words, Magtymguly Pyragy, made possible through the tireless efforts of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Hero Arkadag, and the esteemed President, Arkadagly Hero Serdar.
