THE RESULT OF THE INTERNATIONAL HUMANITARIAN LAW COMPETITION HAVE BEEN SUMMED UP
Ballyeva Durli, a lecturer of the Department of International Law and Comparative Law at the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, took 1st place in the essay competition "Robots and IHL" in the nomination for the best work among specialists in the Turkmen language.
More than 100 researchers from all over the world took part in the competition for the regional delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross in the Russian Federation, Belarus and Moldova (ICRC).
The competition was held in language sections in Azerbaijani, Armenian, Kazakh, Kyrgyz, Russian, Tajik, Turkmen, Uzbek and Ukrainian. Each language section was assessed separately, but some of the sections nominations were allocated in accordance with different categories of participants.
Despite of different academic backgrounds in the field of international humanitarian law (IHL), the participants demonstrated a high level of research. Lawyers, teachers, university professors, journalists, schoolchildren, students and many others highlighted the problems of regulating the use of robots during an armed conflict, and analyzed the ethical aspects of the use of autonomous weapons.
Ballyeva Durli shared that it was easy for her to prepare for topics related to international humanitarian law, because she teaches the discipline of international humanitarian law at the Faculty of International Law at the Institute of International relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. As of part of this discipline, she had experience in preparing students for the annual F.F.Martens competitions held by the regional delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross in the Russian Federation, Belarus and Moldova (ICRC), and held various IHL events among the country's leading universities.
