Gender equality as the key to development
In the Prosperous Epoch of the Powerful State, our Independent, Permanently Neutral Turkmenistan is developing and changing day by day, moving towards new heights of development. Comprehensive development of our country, raising the prestige of our Motherland on the international arena is one of the priorities of the state policy pursued by our Hero Arkadag. In this regard, the importance of gender equality efforts is enormous. The measures taken in this regard are the basis for the equal observance of the rights and opportunities of every citizen in our country.
In our country, important work is being done to ensure the equality of women and men. Our national legislation has been developed; new laws and regulations have been adopted. An example of this is the Law of Turkmenistan “On State Guarantees of Equal Rights and Equal Opportunities for Women and Men” adopted on August 18, 2015. Article 29 of the Constitution guarantees that every citizen, regardless of gender, has equal rights and responsibilities.
In addition, the election of Turkmenistan to the membership to the Executive Board of the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN-Women) for 2022 to 2024 during the session of the United Nations Economic and Social Council is clear evidence of the said. It is known, the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women is a subsidiary body of the United Nations General Assembly established in 2010 to streamline the work of all agencies involved in women’s empowerment. Turkmenistan's accession to the Board has further expanded the ability of women to contribute to the work of various sectors of the country.
In our Motherland, women are respected and a number of programs are being implemented in our country in this field. I wish our Hero Arkadag, who prioritizes the full observance of human rights in our country, long life, strong health and success in his state affairs.
