Another training course on water diplomacy
On April 13, 2023, a training session was held at the Institute of
International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of
Turkmenistan with the participation of the Deputy Committee on
International and Parliamentary Relations of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan
Kerimguly Geldiev, who was elected in the election of deputies of the
Mejlis and members of the velayat, etrap and city halk maslahaty of
Turkmenistan. On April 6, 2023, the first meeting of the Mejlis of
Turkmenistan of the seventh convocation was held, during which a new
leadership of the National Parliament was elected and the main tasks for
the deputies were determined. The theme of the session was the
“International and national legal framework for regulating the use of
transboundary waters”. The training course was held at the Training
Center for priority areas of diplomacy in Turkmenistan.
During the training session, Deputy of the Committee on
International and Parliamentary Relations of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan
Kerimguly Geldiyev made a speech. In his speech, the deputy stressed the
water diplomacy being one of the priorities of the foreign policy of the
Turkmen state, achieving it, our country strengthens international
cooperation in the efficient use of water resources and solving
environmental problems. He talked about some of the national initiatives
such as the development of a strategy, the establishment of the UN
Special Program for the Aral Sea Basin and the establishment of a
Regional Center for Climate Change Technologies in Central Asia in
detail.
At the end of the meeting, deputy expressed gratitude to our
esteemed Hero-Arkadag and the President of Turkmenistan and wished
them good health and longevity, success in their socially significant work.
This session made great contribution to the expansion and increasing the
acquired educational experience for mastering the intricacies of water
diplomacy. At the end of the expert's speech, the students asked questions
to improve their knowledge in the field of water diplomacy.
