AN EXCURSION TO SEYIT JEMALEDDIN MOSQUE WAS ORGANIZED
On April 3, 2024, a trip to the ancient Seyit Jemaleddin Mosque, located on a high hill near the city of Anev, a few kilometers east of Ashgabat, was organized with the participation of teachers and students of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. This tour is of particular importance in the in-depth study of Turkmen culture and history in the year when the city of Anev was declared the "Cultural Capital of the Turkic World".
The interesting stories of the expert of the historical monument about the history of the Seyit Jemaleddin Mosque, the findings discovered by archaeologists within the cultural reserve, and the values that require thorough research were enriched the knowledge ofthe youth. He also introduced the expert to the scientific discoveries made here in recent years.
According to the expert, this monument consists of four structureS – the mosque, the building on the dome in front of it, and two houses with high domes. Known as the Seyit Jemaleddin Mosque, this building is a very complex structure that served the functions of a mosque, a cemetery, a madrasah, and a khanaka. The mosque consists of 17 rooms, in the center of which there is a room with a dome and a sides measuring 10.5 meters. According to legend, dragons are shown as guardian creatures to the people of Anew, whose image guarded the "House of Beauty," as the inscription on the mosque's facade calls it.
The visit to the ancient monument increased future international experts' feelings of pride in our glorious history, our noble ancestors, and our national values. At the end of the tour, the participants expressed their gratitude to the National Leader of the Turkmen people and our Honorable President for the great opportunities created to reveal the abilities and talents of the young generation in the country, to grow into patriotic youth.
