International Translation Day – holiday of mutual understanding
On September 30, 2022, on the occasion of the International Translation Day, a training lesson was held by the Department of World Languages of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. The event, with participation of the third year students of International Realtions, conducted by a senior teacher of the Department of the World Languages Chemen Baýryeva.
The purpose of the International Translation Day is to confirm that professional translation as a craft and art plays an important role in achieving the goals and principles of the Charter of the United Nations, bringing peoples closer together, promoting dialogue, mutual understanding and cooperation, ensuring development and strengthening international peace and security.
Translation Studies helps practitioners develop those skills.
Translation is necessary for the sharing new information, knowledge, and ideas across the world. It is absolutely necessary to achieve effective communication between different cultures. In the process of spreading new information, translation is something that can change history.
“Without translation I would be limited to the borders of my own country. The translator is my most important ally. He introduces me to the world’’ said Italo Calvino.
Today, speaking of our country’s dynamic development, we are proudly to say that Turkmenistan is committed to regional and international cooperation through established platforms and programs to achieve concrete results in the economy, trade, healthcare, education and science, the development of energy and transport corridors, and environmental safety. In this context, it is important to emphasize the partnership of Turkmenistan within the framework of the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) Program and other significant structures.
Following the principles of preventive diplomacy, Turkmenistan intends to further make a positive contribution to the process of achieving peace, stability and sustainable development at the regional and international levels. Today, Ashgabat is a political, socio-economic, scientific, educational and cultural center of the country and one of the most important priorities of our country`s foreign policy is to develop and strengthen of friendly and fraternal relations with the countries of the world. Every year a lot of international, national and specialized exhibitions, forums and conferences are held in our country. The number of countries and companies which take part in them is growing from year by year and the scope of forms and conferences is becoming larger.
Forums and conferences are usually held peace and progress through economic cooperation and so on. International forums and conferences pave the way for the consolidation of friendship among countries and nations. According to such activities held in our country, it is important to underline the work of the translator is exclusively important -due to their work the countries and communities can share knowledge and experience, supporting and accelerating the world progress.
