International Translation Day
Every year on 30th of September, International Translation Day is celebrated, which is a professional holiday for translators. International Translation Day was adopted on September 30, in 1991 by the International Federation of Translators (FIT). The 30th of September was chosen because this date celebrates the feast of St. Jerome, the Bible translator who is considered the patron saint of translators. In 2017, at the 71st session of the UN General Assembly, the resolution on the International Translation Day was unanimously adopted by the member states of the Organization. This Resolution emphasizes the role of language professionals in connecting nations and fostering peace, understanding and development. Every year this international day is celebrated under a unique motto.
