Online Seminar on Applying Creative Methods in Teaching French
On March 24, 2022, an online seminar was held for French language instructors of higher educational institutions in Ashgabat. The event was dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Turkmenistan and the French Republic, and held within the framework of the week of Francophonie. It was organized by the Embassy of the French Republic in Turkmenistan together with the French Language Training Center at the Embassy and the Grenoble University Press (PUG). The online seminar was attended by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the French Republic to Turkmenistan Isabelle Guisnel, the director of the French Language Training Center Romain Gouvernet, the cultural assistant of this center, Alfiya Sidorova, as well as instructors of the French language of the Magtymguly Turkmen State University, the D. Azadi Turkmen National Institute of World Languages, the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
Opening the online seminar with welcoming words, the Ambassador of France to Turkmenistan Isabelle Guisnel highly appreciated the bilateral relations between our countries. Expressing satisfaction with the results of teaching French in Central Asia, including in Turkmenistan, she wished success in the work of the webinar.
Romain Gouvernet, moderator of the online seminar, gave the first floor to Sylvie Bigot, Commercial Director, Chairman of the Board and Member of the Grenoble University Press (PUG). Isabelle Gruca, academic director of the Department of French as a Foreign Language of the aforementioned publishing house also made a speech.
The speakers presented book and electronic formats of French language textbooks for learners of this language at the initial stage (levels A1, A2). The textbooks were prepared by 10 authors under the guidance of Isabelle Gruca. New teaching aids are aimed at teaching grammar, vocabulary, culture and civilization of the language, as well as improving listening and speaking skills and applying various creative methods of teaching were discussed during the webinar.
At the end of the online seminar, the instructors of the French language of higher educational institutions of Turkmenistan expressed their sincere gratitude for the presentation of textbooks and for the donation of the educational and methodological complex and teaching aids by the Grenoble University Press (PUG) to the three above-mentioned Turkmen higher educational institutions.
