INTELLECTUAL COMPETITION DEDICATED TO THE UNITED NATIONS DAY AND THE COOPERATION BETWEEN TURKMENISTAN AND THE UNITED NATIONS
On October 20, 2023, an intellectual competition Brain-ring, titled “International cooperation of independent, permanently neutral Turkmenistan for peace and trust with UN” was held among students of four faculties of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, on the occasion of the United Nations Day and the cooperation between Turkmenistan and the United Nations.
As it is known, that United Nations Day is observed on 24 October every year to mark the anniversary of the UN Charter's entry into force. Since 1948, this day has been celebrated and in 1971 it was recommended by the United Nations General Assembly to be observed by the Member States as a public holiday.
The competition began with a welcoming speech by Ch. Bayryieva, senior teacher of the department of World Languages. During her speech, she noted the important role of Turkmenistan’s cooperation with the UN and contribution of Turkmenistan to the world community in maintaining peace and security, as well as the process of implementing the Sustainable Development Goals in Turkmenistan. In accordance with the terms of the intellectual competition, there were 4 teams from 4 faculties performed. The contest was held in English between the students of the faculties of our Institute. The students demonstrated their deep knowledge about the cooperation between Turkmenistan and the United Nations and unraveled the full names of the given abbreviations of UN agencies, as well as solved a crossword on the topic under discussion.
According to the results of the competition, the jury announced the winners. The winners are: a team of students from the Faculty of International Relations took the 1st place, a team of students from the Faculty of International Journalism took the 2nd place, a team of students from the Faculty of International Law took the 3rd place, and a team of students from the Faculty of International Economic Relations took the 4th place.
At the end of the competition, the students expressed their gratitude to our Hero-Arkadag and our esteemed Hero President for their tireless care for young people and state activities aimed at the further development of the national education system and wished them further success in their positive initiatives that ensure peace and well-being of the world community.
