A seminar on human rights was held
From December 3 to 6, 2024, at the Turkmen State University named after Makhtumkuli, organized by the Center of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE). The students studying law of the University, the International University of Humanitarian Law and Development, the Institute of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan,
Ambassador John MacGregor, Head of the OSCE Centre in Ashgabar, attended the opening ceremony of the seminar and delivered an opening speech. International human rights experts from the Republic of Moldova Iurie Levinte and Ion Graur attended to the seminar. The topics discussed included the historical development of human rights, freedoms and rights, legal assistance in criminal investigations, international standards of investigation, combating cruel torture and guarantees, combating impunity, detention procedures, and the rights of people to a fair trial. At the level, students were given tests on each topic covered.
Traditionally, this seminar is held by the OSCE in December of each year and is dedicated to the International Human Rights Day, during which students received answers to their questions. Following the seminar, students who took part in the seminar were awarded certificates.
