FRIENDLY RELATIONS OF TURKMENISTAN WITH THE COUNTRIES
The success of any relationship depends on people’s ability to communicate well. Communication is important in a relationship because it allows us to share our interests, concerns and support each other; make the right decisions in any situation; and it allows us to work together friendly. Effective communication is based on the way of talking and listening, how we react and our body language. We can all learn how to improve the way we communicate.
There is nothing that keeps strong and healthy relationship, better than understanding. Once communication is established and many people become familiar with communication and the different ways we can communicate.
It is necessary to underline that building trust, honesty, and respect starts with a communication. In a healthy relationship, communication is based on trust and respect for each other, taking into consideration the other partners point of view. Considering each other’s point of view is the best step in maintaining and developing a healthy relationship.
Why is communication between countries important?
The importance of communication in globalization is paramount, because individuals from different countries, ethnicities, languages, cultural attitudes and other variations must understand one another and express themselves to another effectively in order to work together.
In this regard, effective communication is important when developing positive relationships with anyone and any countries, as it builds trust and establishes mutual understanding between the people and as well as relationships with countries that communicate with each another. Respect is a key element in effective communication, and the development of a relationship of the neighbouring countries.
Turkmens are a nation that invests in establishing long-standing friendly relationships with neighbouring countries. A nation that promotes unity and peaceful coexistence. People who provide their support to where needed. Our country maintains good neighbourly and equal relations with neighbouring countries.
As it is known, now friendly relations have gained a new meaning and open a wide way for the implementation of their joint large-scale development programs. Those relations have been successfully strengthened throughout history. It strengthens friendly relations day by day.
It is a great pride for the Turkmen people to receive the message about the approval of their proposal for the motto of the year 2023, which was declared the “International Year of Dialogue as a Guarantee of Peace” in accordance with resolution 77/32 of the United Nations General Assembly by the initiative of Turkmenistan. The resolution was co-sponsored by 68 member countries of the Organization. This motto “International Year of Dialogue as a Guarantee of Peace” once again encourages Turkmenistan to strengthen national unity, solidarity and improve interstate relations peacefully. In this regard, the resolution also intends to support international efforts aimed at reducing conflicts and creating favorable conditions for the start of negotiations.
As a peaceful and beautiful country, we confidently emphasize that Turkmenistan consistently expands its diplomatic missions, pays attention to international partnership, as well as steadily implementing the policy of peace, good neighborliness and fruitful international cooperation, to participate actively in the development of balanced decisions to urgent problems of the world community on the diplomatic way. And to date, the most effective is the diplomatic dialogue, holding direct negotiations. This new motto “Dialogue as a Guarantee of Peace” provides the best opportunity to use peaceful diplomatic means to lower the level of any conflicts in the world and has an improving and strengthening effect on world peace.
Following the foreign policy strategy of Turkmenistan, it should be noted that one of the main objectives of the foreign policy strategy of Turkmenistan is to promote international peace, security and sustainable development.
Following this goal, the foreign policy of Turkmenistan from the moment of its independence, our country pays much special attention to strengthening relations with the neighbouring states of the region, makes efforts to create an atmosphere of friendship, trust, good neighborliness as well as mutually beneficial partnership.
Firstly, let’s define what is diplomacy?
Diplomacy is a method that governments use to influence the actions of foreign governments through peaceful tactics such as negotiation and dialogue. It’s typically carried out by a countries representatives abroad, but a diplomat’s actions will be largely controlled by the government they serve.
The term diplomacy can also be used to describe when someone deals with a person or difficult situation with skill, in a way that creates a peaceful solution without offending or upsetting them.
It is necessary to highlight that since its independence our country’s recent diplomatic relations are of importance.
So, on March 2, 1992, after gaining its independence, Turkmenistan became a member of the UN; Turkmenistan’s permanent mission, established under this organization, became its first diplomatic mission established abroad.
At present, Turkmenistan has established diplomatic relations with 151 states of the world. There are 41 diplomatic missions and consular offices of Turkmenistan abroad. There are 30 embassies, 4 consulates, 2 diplomatic representations of foreign countries and 14 representations of international organizations accredited in Turkmenistan. Turkmenistan is a party to 177 international conventions and treaties. In fact, since gaining our independence in 1992, Turkmenistan has maintained important relations with most of its neighbors and with the world community. Today, sovereign and neutral Turkmenistan celebrates the 31st anniversary of its independence. In a brief historical and glorious chronicle of this period, our country has become a powerful state with its own specific, stable and well-deserved place in the world community.
Thus, within the framework of its foreign policy, neutral Turkmenistan attaches great importance to relations with neighbouring countries, with which it has historical, political, economic and cultural ties. In the period of the Revival of a New Era of the Powerful State, the peaceful foreign policy strategy of the Respected President is being successfully implemented.
As it is known, China is the first country to establish diplomatic relations with Turkmenistan. On January 6, 1992, China signed communiqués on the establishment of diplomatic relations with Turkmenistan. At present, Turkmen-Chinese relations are developing in a wide range of diplomatic, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian ties. It should be noted that China is currently one of the most important economic partners of our country. According to the diplomatic relations with China, it is also important to note the development of the traditional cultural relations and the integrate efforts in the field of education, science and culture.
Secondly, one of the special dates in the history of bilateral relations is Turkmen-Bahrain relations.
According to the source, Bahrain has maintained friendly relations with most of its neighbours and with the world community since achieving independence in 1971. It typically follows a policy of close consultation with neighboring states and works on narrow areas of disagreement. In this regard, Turkmen-Bahrain diplomatic relations were established in December 1995. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations in December 1995, Turkmenistan and the Kingdom of Bahrain have built a long-term comprehensive partnership based on the principles of mutual benefit, trust and respect for each other's interests.
According to it, on February 21, 2023, under the motto of “the year – “Happy Youth with Arkadag Serdar”, our Esteemed President paid an official visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain. The Turkmen leader's first visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain is also of great importance in further strengthening and developing bilateral cooperation.
In one word, this current visit was intended to open a new important stage in the history of interstate relations, based on friendly, fraternal and spiritual closeness connecting with the peoples of the two countries, and aimed at developing large-scale cooperation for the benefit of common well-being of both countries.
According to the results of the Turkmen-Bahrain summit talks, a package of bilateral documents was signed. This proves once again that they will impulse Turkmenistan to strengthen the further development of mutually beneficial cooperation in all areas between Turkmenistan and the Kingdom of Bahrain.

And one of is the Memorandum of Understanding between the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Academy of Diplomatic Sciences named after Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Bahrain.
As we get into a relationships with our neighbours, we know how good communication and good relationships are very important.
It should be noted that one of the mutually beneficial partnerships at present is Turkmen-Qatari relations. Turkmen-Qatari relations are one of the special events in the history of bilateral relations between the two countries. It is necessary to note that high-level meetings and talks plaid an important role in the development of interstate relations. In this regard, a number of high-level visits have been held between Turkmenistan and the State of Qatar in recent years.
In both countries, the expansion of Turkmen-Qatari relations in the political, diplomatic, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres is productive.
The cooperation of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan with one of the outstanding high educational establishments of the State of Qatar. And one of them is the Memorandum of Understanding between the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Institute of Diplomacy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar. This cooperation is evidence of good diplomatic relations in the field of science and education between the two countries.
With great enthusiasm, we, young generation are ready to contribute our knowledge to develop in all spheres of our country under the motto of the year – “Happy Youth with Arkadag Serdar”, which became tribute of high respect to our President, who confidently leads the Turkmen people and Fatherland to new achievements. This motto applies to youth because the role of youth in nation-building or development is very important and because the development of any nation depends on the future generation. There is no doubt that youth people are the most dynamic and important part of the population in any country.
It is well-known that the youth of any country is a great wealth and also a dignity of the society. In fact, the youth is the future of the country and represents it at every level. The role of youth in nation-building is more significant. In other words, the intelligence and work of the youth will take the country on the pathway of success. Because every citizen is equally responsible, including youth. They are the building blocks of their country.
We can proudly say that this motto has a significant meaning for all spheres of the development of our beloved country.
In conclusion, as we, masters of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan are very grateful to our honourable President for his great efforts in developing and strengthening peace for the Turkmen people, as well as for great opportunities for establishing cooperation in other areas and building a bridge of friendship and mutual understanding between the two fraternal peoples that share common spiritual and cultural traditions.
We wish our esteemed President long life, sound health and great achievements in all his undertakings.
