World Bicycle Day
In April 2018, the United Nations General Assembly declared June 3 as World Bicycle Day. The Resolution of World Bicycle Day recognizes the uniqueness of bicycle, which has been in use for two centuries, and that it is a simple, affordable, reliable, clean and environmentally friendly means of transport.
World Bicycle Day is a special day celebrated by people regardless of any age. Bicycle is considered as a symbol of human progress, advancement, mutual understanding and respect. In addition, according to the World Health Organization, safe infrastructure for walking and cycling is a pathway for achieving greater health conditions. Cycling is environmentally friendly means of transport that reduce the risk of heart disease, stroke, certain types of cancer, diabetes, etc.
On the 3rd of June 2019, The World Bicycle Day established by the UN General Assembly Resolution at the initiative of our Hero Arkadag, the National Leader of Turkmen People was celebrated in Ashgabat. Along with Turkmenistan, the World Bicycle Day is annually celebrated around the world. Being harmless for the ecology, cycling gains higher popularity in the wolrd. And now there is new holiday that unites the countries and people all over the world.
Thus, the celebration of World Bicycle Day once again became a clear manifestation of the unity of our society. Under the wise leadership of our highly esteemed President and Hero Arkadag our Independent, permanently Neutral Turkmenistan is confidently advancing towards new creative goals and heights of progress.
