IN TURKMENISTAN ARE PROTECTED LEGAL RIGHTS OF WOMEN
Constantly Neutral Turkmenistan pursues its policy based on the international legal situation. In particular, our country actively participates in recognized international legal documents concerning the protection of women's rights. The esteemed President notes: “We highly appreciate the moral character, intellectual potential and skill of our women. The protection of their legitimate rights and interests, the provision of benefits by the state is one of the most important conditions for the sustainable development of the Turkmen society. In this context, the state creates all the conditions for a free life and creative work of our compatriots, education and mastering professions, raising children at the level of modern requirements.”
The principle of equal rights for men and women in Turkmenistan is enshrined in the Constitution and national legislation of Turkmenistan as an integral part of its legal system. Having the international legal status of a neutral state, Turkmenistan adopted the Declaration on International Commitments in the Field of Human Rights.
In particular, the conceptual norms of human rights and freedoms and the supremacy of women's rights guaranteed by the Constitution have been further improved in the national legislation. For example, on August 15, 2015, the Law of Turkmenistan “On State Guarantees for Ensuring Equal Rights and Equal Opportunities for Women and Men” was adopted. This Law prohibits direct and indirect discrimination against women and guarantees equality in all spheres of life. The law also defines the powers of state bodies and public associations in the implementation of ensuring gender equality.
The tasks related to gender equality in our country are regulated by the normative documents of Turkmenistan, such as the Labor Code of Turkmenistan, the Family Code of Turkmenistan, the Code of Social Protection of the Population, the Criminal, Civil, Civil Procedure Codes, the Criminal Procedure Code of Turkmenistan, as well as the Laws on Health Protection Citizens” “On Education”, “On Combating Trafficking in Human Beings”.
Currently, maintaining gender equality is seen as a serious problem among countries around the world. A number of issues related to gender equality were also discussed at the Central Asian Consultative Meeting in Turkmenistan on August 6, 2021. In a word, Turkmenistan is a legal and secular state that regulates the rights of women in accordance with international and national legal norms. Thanks to the unprecedented efforts of our esteemed President, Turkmenistan has maintained and is strengthening its position in domestic and foreign policy.
