Turkmenistan and the UN: A Milestone in Diplomatic Achievement
On June 20, 2024, the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan conducted a training course as part of its "Preventive Diplomacy" program. This course was dedicated to Turkmenistan's recent unanimous election as the Vice President of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). The training center, focusing on key diplomatic areas, facilitated this significant event.
Just two weeks earlier, on June 6, 2024, Turkmenistan was unanimously chosen as the Vice President of the forthcoming 79th session of the UNGA. This unanimous support from the global community highlights the robust backing for Turkmenistan's foreign policy. The nation's stance on positive neutrality offers broad opportunities to advance multilateral diplomacy. This encompasses disaster prevention, economic cooperation, energy, transport, water management, science, education, cultural exchange, humanitarian efforts, parliamentary relations, medical advancements, ecological initiatives, youth programs, and sports diplomacy.
This election marks the eighth time Turkmenistan has been elected as Vice President of the UN General Assembly, having previously served in this role during the 58th, 62nd, 64th, 68th, 71st, 75th, and 77th sessions. Turkmenistan’s continued presence in this influential position underscores its commitment to fostering mutually beneficial cooperation across various sectors. It also highlights its role in strengthening mutual understanding, friendship, and trust between nations and peoples worldwide.
Turkmenistan's proactive approach in these areas not only reflects its dedication to international peace and security but also reinforces its influential position on the global stage.
