A SEMINAR ON WATER DIPLOMACY WAS HELD
On May 16, 2024, the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan hosted a seminar “Water Diplomacy” of the Training Center on priority areas of diplomacy of Turkmenistan.
The lesson was conducted by the head of the Department of Hydraulic Engineering of the Turkmen Agricultural University named after S.A. Niyazov, professor, candidate of technical sciences Italmaz Saparliev. The subject of training course was “The experience of Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan in the use of Central Asia water resources ”.
Denoting being of the water supply urgent problem among the region countries Professor I. Saparliev stated the importance of the issue of forming mechanisms for rational management of water resources and implementing practical steps in this aspect. He also noted the importance of developing the water-saving technologies, modernizing existing water management facilities, and other relevant measures and conceptual technological solutions that would make it possible to ensure the water supply of the region countries wholly, taking into account mutual beneficial interests.
Also, during the seminar, much attention was paid to the use of global experience in the implementation of innovative solutions and digital technologies in achieving sustainable water resource management. Particular attention was paid to such areas as the irrigation system, careful use of water resources, their availability and security. At the end of the lesson, a thematic discussion took place between the participants. Students received comprehensive answers to their questions.
