Conference dedicated to topical issues of the information environment
On April 14 2023, a round table entitled “New formats of cooperation in the
international information environment” was held at the Institute of International
Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. It was attended by
experts of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe,
correspondents of the world's largest news agencies in Turkmenistan, press
attaches of foreign embassies in Turkmenistan, representatives of popular
electronic media, the country's foreign affairs agency, and students of the institute.
The meeting consisted of two sessions; the first session was entitled «Issues of
Information Sustainability in the 21st Century». During it, speeches were made on
a number of issues, such as trends in media and information literacy in society,
world experience in combating unreliable news, combating false news, improving
the information literacy of young people, and the role of the state in creating a
stable information space.
After the first meeting, the meeting participants toured a specialized exhibition of
foreign policy publications.
The second session, titled «Information Politics in an Age of Social Media
Dominance», featured spectacular presentations on several topics such as the role
of social media in the information space, how social media is used as a tool for
cultural communication, and the types of communication with political society in
the digital age. Representatives of authoritative media in their speeches
emphasized that Turkmenistan has created all the opportunities for effective work
of journalists.
