National, Historical and Cultural Heritage is Being Studied
In the Prosperous epoch of Powerful state, work on the preservation, respect and restoration of historical and cultural monuments, scientific and educational works, historical fortresses inherited from ancestors is one of the priorities of the country's policy.
The city of Kunyaurgench is one of the ancient scientific centers located along the route of the Great Silk Road and has made a significant contribution to the prosperity of world science, history and culture. Such great personalities as Muhammad al-Khorezmi, Abu Reikhan Biruni, Mahmud Zamakhshari, Avicenna, Shikh Shahabeddin Abu Hafs Omar ibn Abdulla Shukhraverd (Ashyk Aydin pir), Nedjmeddin Kubra, lived in this ancient land and were engaged in scientific and educational activities.
The great historian of the East Juvaini wrote: "Gurgench is the capital of the sultans of the world and the abode of the outstanding sons of mankind." Archaeologist Hemra Yusubov, well-known in our country, calls Kunyaurgench “the heart of ancient Khorezm”.
The tallest building in Central Asia - the minaret named after Kutlug Timur, the Kirkmolla fortress, one of the historical places that elevate the glory of the ancient Kunyaergench, the monuments of Nejmeddin Kubra, Il Arslan, Tekesh, Sultan Ali, Piryar Veli and Torebeg Khanum, located on the territory of Kunyaurgench , testify that it is not without reason that Kunyaurgench was nicknamed the "Bright Star of the East".
In order to popularize Kunyaurgench and its historical monuments, the Department of Social Sciences of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan organized a presentation competition. The results of the competition demonstrated that after our Motherland gained independence, special attention is paid to the preservation and restoration of historical and cultural monuments, as well as to a deep study of our rich national and cultural heritage.
