International Day of Peace
According to the Resolution 36/67 adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in 1981, it is declared annually as "the third Tuesday of September - the Day of Peace." Twenty years later, as a result of United Nations Resolution 55/282, adopted in 2001, since 2002, International Peace Day has been celebrated around the world as a day of universal reconciliation and non-violence every year. The date is also being declared as a day to strengthen peace ideas and initiatives at the national and international levels among all countries.
The presence of the International Day of Peace “Dove of Peace” symbolizes the significance of this holiday. In fact, Pablo Picasso created this symbol for the first congress of Peace advocates in 1949. International Peace Day celebrations are being held around the world. Along with those countries, our Fatherland Turkmenistan, which promotes peace and trust on the basis of the principle of neutrality in the world, is also active. This can be exemplified by the unanimous support for the declaration of “2021 - the Year of International Peace and Trust” on the initiative of the President at the 73rd session of the UN General Assembly. The adoption of this Decree is a clear proof that Turkmenistan is a country that has good relations with foreign countries not only in goodwill principles, but also in all spheres of politics, economy, culture, society and education. Turkmenistan’s status of permanent neutrality, opening of the UN Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia, and numerous initiatives put forward by Turkmenistan at the UN General Assembly, including the General Assembly resolution-declaring stand as valuable contribution to our common efforts to ensure peace, security and prosperity.
