Fascinating Trip to the Independence Monument
Today, on 28th of March, we, the members of the competition called “Young messengers of peace”, went on a bewildering excursion to the Independence Monument of Turkmenistan organized by the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. There we had a chance to see the statue of Ertugrul Ghazi, the leader of Kayi Tribe and the father of Osman I who founded the Great Ottoman Empire. The statue was built accurately to the depictions of Ertugrul Ghazi in historical literatures. Our guide told us the story of how Ertugrul Ghazi came to the Anadoly lands and created the beginning of the Great Ottoman Empire. As we learned in our trip, Ertugrul Ghazi was a brave commander as depicted in the statue as well: he had a golden shield with the image of a lion, which is a symbol of courage, and he had a bow-shaped sword, which was kind of like a tradition in the Ottoman Empire. During this excursion we were inspired to learn more about the story of the most long-lived empire in the world history and are proud of having one of the strongest empire in the history of our nation.
