INTERNATIONAL BRIEFING CONSULTATION ON GENDER ISSUES WAS HELD
Modern global developments and the complexities of globalization have a significant impact on the status of women. Ensuring women's rights contributes to strengthening democracy, improving living standards, stability and mobility. Countries where women have a dignified position, the freedom to make life choices, equal rights and equal opportunities to participate in public and state affairs are more stable and sustainable. They are ready to solve the problems of the new century.
Since the first years of independence, Turkmenistan has been actively implementing measures to improve the status of women and achieve gender equality. According to the Constitution of Turkmenistan, men and women in our country have equal rights and freedoms, equal opportunities for their implementation. Our national legislation provides legal frameworks and safeguards to ensure balanced gender relations in government bodies, equal opportunities for women's economic independence, improved working conditions, and the equal sharing of rights and responsibilities within families.
Turkmenistan closely cooperates with a number of international organizations including the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) in this area. As part of this cooperation, on November 28, 2024, the National Police Chiefs' Council of Great Britain (NPCC) held an international videoconference at the OSCE Ashgabat Center, dedicated to the work of British police services on gender issues. The meeting was attended by representatives of the Ministries of Internal Affairs, Labor and Social Protection of Turkmenistan, the Institute of State, Law and Democracy, the Central Council of the Women's Union and the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. The purpose of the conference is to present and exchange experiences in preventing and combating violence against women, gender inequality and the work of the British police abroad. Foreign experts provided comprehensive presentations on their work in this area.
