A CONVERSATION WITH THE REPRESENTATIVE OF FRANCE
On May 12, 2026, the International Scientific-Practical Conference titled “Foreign Policy and Diplomacy of Turkmenistan: Cooperation for Peace, Safety, and Sustainable Development” commenced at the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. The hybrid-format event brought together scientists, diplomats, and experts from various corners of the world.
Within the framework of this large-scale international forum, Head of the Department of Social Sciences, Ogulgurban Ezimova, held a meeting with a renowned archaeologist and historian from the French Republic, Julio Bendezu-Sarmiento. During the conversation, the parties exchanged detailed views on scientific cooperation, historical heritage, and modern methods of educating students.
During the conversation, the French scholar Julio Bendezu-Sarmiento emphasized the vital role and importance of archaeology in studying human history, cultural heritage, and ancient traditions and customs. Noting that Turkmenistan is a land of rich historical monuments and ancient civilizations, he highly praised the scientific potential and the work carried out by higher education institutions, particularly our institute, in the in-depth study of these values.
The guest confirmed his readiness to continue mutual exchange of experience in future research projects, specifically in the joint study of historical and cultural heritage.
