A CREATIVE FESTIVAL ENTITLED “WORLD CULTURE”
On December 10, 2024, a creative festival entitled “World Culture” was held at the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, marking the eve of International Neutrality Day. The event was organized by the Secretariat of the National Commission of Turkmenistan for UNESCO and the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, with participants including UNESCO club representatives and students from various higher educational institutions.
The festival began with an exhibition displaying the rich cultural diversity of countries around the world, offering attendees a chance to explore various traditions. Chynar Rustemova, Hero of Turkmenistan and Executive Secretary of the National Commission of Turkmenistan for UNESCO, opened the event with a speech. She was also awarded the prestigious Magtymguly International Prize. Ch.Rustemova gave a speech on active participation of Turkmenistan in UNESCO programs, its role in the organization’s major divisions, and the country’s ongoing efforts in digital projects and information exchange. She also emphasized the importance of preserving world culture and both material and spiritual heritage.
Other notable speakers included Bike Diwangulyyeva, a head of the UNESCO Chair “Cultural Heritage – From the Past to the Future” at Magtymguly Turkmen State University, Ogulsabyr Berdiyeva, a head of the UNESCO club “Languages of Peace” at the Dovletmammet Azadi Turkmen National Institute of World Languages, and Merjen Berdiyeva, a head of the UNESCO club “Medicinal Plants – Our Health, Our Heritage” at M. Garriyev Turkmen State Medical University. Each speaker highlighted the long-standing cultural and humanitarian cooperation between Turkmenistan and UNESCO, focusing on the preservation of the country’s invaluable cultural heritage.
The festival also featured a series of performances by the creative group of the Institute of International Relations, including a song celebrating friendship and brotherhood from other educational institutions, a French song “Une vie d’amour,” a Chinese song and dance titled “Aýazly” and a Russian song. These performances brought a special cultural touch to the event, further illustrating the theme of global unity.
