November 20 th is World Children's Day and the date of adoption of the Convention on the Rights of the Child
As a result of the tireless care and efforts of the President, we have a wide range of material and social benefits and opportunities for the active participation in the protection of childhood, health and comprehensive development of children and youth in our country, their preparation for independent life and work, as well as advantages and hopes reliable legal and social guarantees have been created.
Protection of children in international human rights law, children's rights and freedoms and the issues are paramount. It is one of the most important international legal instruments and has been approved by the UN General Assembly in its resolution on the November 20th in 1989. It is the Convention on the Rights of the Child, adopted by the global Organization. Turkmenistan ratified this Convention in September 1994 and became it as a State Party. This Convention is binding first Convention on the Rights of the Child, the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Children. It summarizes the principles of human rights of all young children. With the adoption of this Convention and the celebration of World Children's Day, the significance of this day is growing.
In 1954, a special resolution was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly to mark World Children's Day. The main purpose of this day's celebration is to strengthen the efforts of the United Nations on children’s safety around the world. The United Nations General Assembly, in its resolution, states that the celebration of World Children's Day as a global holiday will further strengthen solidarity and cooperation among nations.
November 15-20, 2021 – member students of the “Young lawyers” scientific team of the Faculty of International Law and lecturers of the Department of International Law and Comparative Law studies of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan organized informative presentations dedicated World Children’s Day for the schoolchildren of the specialized schools number 21, 68, 72, 76 and 37 which are under the auspice of our institute, about the Convention on the Rights of Child. The main purpose of this week's event is to explain the content of the Convention on the Rights of the Child. During the school classes, students explained to the schoolchildren in detail about the rights of the child through presentations and videos in Turkmen, English and Russian. At the end of the lesson, it was very important for the students and teachers to learn their ideas and opinions by answering their questions. Members of the “Young Lawyers” Scientific team aim to continue this type of training in the future.
