It would be nice to talk a little bit about his history here. The decision to mark this important World Day was created at the 48th meeting of the PEN Club, an international organization that brings together professional writers working in various genres of literature, on January 12-18, 1986. The main aim of organization is to promote friendship and intellectual support among writers from all the corners of the world. This international organization was founded in London in 1921. (The name of the organization is based on the abbreviations of the English word Poets - writers, Essayists - essay writers and Novelists - novel writers). The first president of the organization is John Galsworthy. At the time of its founding, 11 countries were members of the organization and now it has centers in over 130 countries.
As mentioned in the Charter of the Organization, this international organization is committed to protect the freedom of information, works and publications within each country and among countries. The International PEN Club is the oldest global literary organization that emphasizes the role of literature in the development of the world culture.
World Writers' Day is currently celebrated in many countries around the world and many writers are awarded various international awards.
It would be appropriate to note one thing. Our Motherland Turkmenistan is already preparing for the 300th anniversary of the great philosopher and well-known Turkmen poet Magtymguly Fraghi, which will celebrate in 2024. One of the great projects of the writer is the construction of a magnificent statue of Magtymguly Fraghi, 60 meters high in beautiful capital Ashgabat.
The works of our esteemed President, which are based on the gems of wisdom, are also being translated into various languages. The number of works and poems of our Turkmen writers translated into different languages is increasing. May the life of our Hero Arkadag, who creates such opportunities, prosperous, sound health, long life and further success in all his undertakings for the benefit of the people and the state.
