World Radio Day
Radio is one of the main types of journalism, which hotely conveys to the public information and news happening in the country and in the world. Let's talk about the history of this day.
The World Radio Day was proclaimed at UNESCO’s General Conference in 2011, following an initial proposal by Spain. The initiative is promoted by Jorge Alvarez, President of the Spanish Radio Academy. Thus, in 2012, the General Assembly of the United Nations declared February 13 as World Radio Day. The main objective of this day is to increase the importance of radio among the public. On February 12, 1950, the European Radiocommunication Union was established. The headquarters of the association is in Geneva, and it has members in Asia, Africa and Latin America.
Radio art in Turkmenistan dates back to the «Radio Lovers» society, which was founded in January 1926. Soon, in November 1927, a radio station was established and the first radio broadcasts began. In 1935, with the arrival of more powerful equipment to the Ashgabat radio station, the development of Turkmen radio art began. By 1940, radio stations were already being organized in city and district centers.
During the years of the Great Patriotic War, the staff of Turkmen radio announcers improved. According to writer Arap Gurbanov, news of the Soviet Information Bureau begins to be broadcast in Turkmen language. It should be noted with pride that Arap Gurbanov brought the joyful news about the Great Victory to the turkmen people in the Turkmen language.
Currently, the TV and radio station "Turkmenistan" broadcasts four radio programs: "Çar tarapdan", "Owaz", "Miras", "Watan".
