World Bread Day
World Bread Day and Chef Day is widely celebrated annually on October 16. World Bread Day and Chef Day was established in 2006 at the initiative of the International Bakeries Association. The date is connected with the establishment of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nation on October 16, 1945. This organization is engaged in solving the problems of agricultural development and production.
Certainly, bread is one of the most popular foods in the world. The history of bread dates back to several millennia.
According to scientific research, the first bread products appeared about 8,000 years ago. The first yeast bread was made in Egypt. At that time, bread was highly respected. Today, bread and bakery products are highly valued in every country of the world. Bread is the beauty and decoration of the table. There are many proverbs and sayings about bread, e.g. Sweat on the back - there will be bread on the table. If you sit on the stove, you cannot see bread on the table. Bread is sacred for our people.
World Bread Day is home to a variety of bakeries, festivals of culinary professionals, as well as free bread distribution and charity work for the needy. Not only bread and bakery products, but also how bread is made, its history and traditions, where it is made from, where it originated, how it is baked, is widely studied at this festival.
