Friendly relations with a long-term perspective
In the era of the Revival of the new epoch of the Powerful state our independent, permanent neutral Turkmenistan achieves great success in increasing friendly relations with all of nations around the world as well as neighbouring countries. These highly-achieved relations are being broadened in political-diplomatic, trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian spheres. It is prominent to acclaim that these relations are based on humanity, brotherhood and mutual benefits.
One of such friendly countries is the Islamic Republic of Iran. Relations between permanent Neutral Turkmenistan and the Islamic Republic of Iran in the political-diplomatic, trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian fields are developing day by day. In particular, the cooperation between the two friendly countries in the field of science and education deserves a special attention. Scientific and educational relations between the Turkmen and Iranian people take their roots from the ancient times of history. In the Middle Ages, Omar Khayyam, al-Farabi, Ibn Sina and several other Turkmen scientists studied in Iran. In fact, higher educational institutions, which were established by the Seljuk Turkmens in Iran, were located in Nishapur, Rey, Isfahan.
In the era of the Revival of the new epoch of the Powerful state, Turkmen-Iranian relations in the field of science and education include all aspects of science. One of these fields is Turkmen national diplomacy, which is one of the most important aspect of science of Turkmenistan. In this regard, cooperation in the field of studying diplomatic science is expanding. This is fully evidenced by the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Institute of Political and International Studies of the Islamic Republic of Iran in 2018. This cooperation established between scientific centers operating in the field of diplomacy created an opportunity to share the experiences gained in science and education. It should be noted that this cooperation would increase further knowledge of youth studying in diplomacy.
In addition, students and teachers of the two higher educational institutions participate in bilateral meetings and consultations. A “round table” conference dedicated to the importance of Turkmen-Iranian relations was held with the participation of students, professors and diplomats of the two countries in 2021. The meeting contributed to the further development of relations in this field. Also, the International competition called “International Relations: Culture of Peaceful Dialogue” was held among students from Central Asian countries, the Caspian States, the Republic of Türkiye, the People’s Republic of China, as well as higher educational institutions of Turkmenistan, which was jointly organized by the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan in 2024. The team of the Institute of Political and International Studies of the Islamic Republic of Iran also participated in the competition.
This cooperation in the field of diplomacy plays a very important role in training young diplomats as well as helps them to be perfect international experts and exchanging mutual experience.
