A Meeting Dedicated to the International Day of Human Rights
From the first days of gaining independence, Turkmenistan declared its recognition and respect for the democratic rights and freedoms enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Today, the country has established itself on the international stage as a state interested in the development of a democratic society.
As is known, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was adopted on December 10, 1948. Due to this date, on December 9, 2024, the Department of International Law and Comparative Law Studies of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, together with the "Young Lawyers" scientific club, organized the event dedicated to the 76th anniversary of the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. As a part of this event, a question-and-answer session was held on the topics of human rights and the legal status of neutrality, with the participation of secondary school students collaborating with the institute.
The issues of protecting the inalienable rights and freedoms of individuals, the creation of a peace zone in Central Asia through multilateral cooperation among the countries of the region, and the enshrinement of the basic rights and freedoms of citizens in the country's special legislation, within the international norms reflected to the Constitution was discussed at this meeting.
