June 3 - the World Bicycle Day
On June 3, 2022, on the occasion of the World Bicycle Day a ceremonial bike ride was organized. The festivities, which were attended by the happy citizens of our country, filled all parts of our dear Motherland with great joy and excitement. The student youth and professors of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan also took an active part in the ceremony. Our esteemed President has made it a noble tradition to promote mass physical education and sports activities among the population. Construction of modern sports facilities and the growing number of cultural and recreational zones in different parts of our country give ample opportunities to promote healthy lifestyles among citizens and attract them to actively participate in mass sports activities.
Declaring June 3 of each year as the World Bicycle Day on the initiative of our hero Arkadag in accordance with the Resolution of the UN General Assembly in 2018 was a proof of enormous contribution of Turkmenistan to develop the physical education and sports movement in our country and improve the ecological culture of the society at the national, regional and global levels. This event was once more a clear testimony of the fact that the world community supports Turkmenistan's initiatives. This, in its turn, confirms the fact that the foreign policy and environmental diplomacy of our esteemed President is aimed not only at the interests of our people, but also at the interests of the people of the world and of all mankind.
The monument Bicycle, located at the intersection of Chandybil Avenue and Bekreve Street, became a vivid symbol of this holiday. The significance of the reconstruction of the Great Silk Road and the development of regional and international cooperation are reflected in this amazing building.
It is worth mentioning that in 2018, a multi-sport training course was held at the Ashgabat Multipurpose Stadium with the participation of 3,246 people. A year later, the "Longest, Regular Bike Ride" was held in the Olympic Complex. It was attended by 2019 cyclists. Both of these events have been included in the Guinness Book of World Records. All of this is a clear evidence of the growing prestige of our independent and permanently neutral Motherland as a sports state.
