February 18 - the Day of Diplomatic workers of Turkmenistan
Every year on February 18th, the Day of Diplomatic workers of Turkmenistan is widely celebrated in our country. In February 2009, our Esteemed President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov signed a Decree on the observance of February 18 of each year as the Day of Diplomatic workers of Turkmenistan. This date signifies respect to Turkmen diplomats and their noble deeds on the state level.
The initiatives of Turkmen diplomacy aimed at strengthening friendly, good-neighbourly relations, mutual understanding and trust in regional and international relations take a great importance on a global scale. Guided by the instructions of our National Leader, the staff of the Diplomatic Service implement the important and responsible tasks to solve successfully which are assigned to them.
The diplomatic service has a very important role in the successful implementation of the foreign policy of our state. As it is noted in the scientific sources, “Diplomatic service is a special part of the State Council, within the framework of international relations and it operates in its own country and abroad, with the aim of protecting the rights of the state. Currently, under the leadership of our Esteemed President, our country is recognized by world countries as a peace-loving state. Our country has diplomatic relations with more than 150 countries and has trade and economic relations with more than 100 countries in the world.
A qualitatively new impetus has been given to the development of the Alma Mater of National Diplomacy. Thanks to the enormous support of our Hero Arkadag, the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan trains young diplomats. Advanced digital technologies and teaching innovative methods are widely used at the Institute. The technical base of the Institute and cooperating with major leading higher educational institutions abroad are constantly being enhanced, it provides great opportunities for the students to get education. The Institute makes great efforts to develop and teach important areas of diplomacy, such as economics, transport, energy, ecology, water, culture and sport.
