Young ambassadors of Sustainable Development Goals were selected
Turkmenistan is an active participant in international area and constantly builds relations with all countries based on the principles of equality, friendship, good neighborliness and mutual benefit. Turkmenistan participates in 47 international organizations, 150 international conventions and agreements, and is a member of 9 UN Councils, Committees and Commissions. Turkmenistan is an active member of United Nations. The Sustainable Development Goals are one of the main projects UN. The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), also known as the Global Goals, were adopted by the United Nations in 2015 as a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure that by 2030, all people can live in peace and prosperity. The 17 SDGs are interdependent – they recognize that actions in one area affect outcomes in others and must ensure a balance between development, socio-economic and environmental sustainability.
Young ambassadors are selected each year for the 17 goals of the SDG to listen to the views of young people and work together with young people to achieve these goals. On July 26, 2024, a ceremony was held to reward the newly elected young ambassadors. In 2024-2025, Kerim Baymyradov, a 3rd-year student of the faculty of international relations of our institute, was chosen to represent the 16th goal of the SDGs “Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions”.
