HIGH-LEVEL MEETING
The Turkmen and Uzbek peoples living in the neighbourhood for centuries share many common traditions, national values and history. This has a positive impact on the strengthening of the traditionally good-neighbourly relations between the peoples. The cooperation have been greatly expanded in various fields based on the solid foundation of fraternal relations between the Turkmen and Uzbek peoples.
Partnership in the cultural and humanitarian sphere plays a special role in the friendly relations between Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. When it comes to the education system, it is gratifying to note the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the University of World Economy and Diplomacy of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
On April 13, 2022, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Turkmenistan Mr. Akmaljon Kuchkarov and Rector of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Jumamyrat Gurbangeldiyev met to further develop the educational relations between the two countries. During the meeting, the sides noted about the high level friendly relations between the two countries and exchanged views on further expanding the scope of cooperation in the field of education in the future.
The rector of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan told about the history of the Institute, its structure, the work of the departments, its international cooperation and the educational and research centres operating under the Institute. The rector also highlighted the joint projects of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan. During the meeting, Mr. Ambassador made a number of proposals to further expand cooperation with the University of World Economy and Diplomacy in Uzbekistan.
After the meeting, a special tour to the Institute was organized for Mr. Ambassador. The Ambassador visited the Institute’s Museum of Turkmen Diplomacy, the German Language Library, the Turkish Language Library and the recently opened Indian Corner. In addition, Mr. Ambassador watched Game 7 of the first round of the contest “Young Messenger of Peace”, which was being recorded at the yurta (Ak oy) of the Institute, specially designed for this contest. The guest addressed the contestants and spoke about the ongoing relations between the two countries. Noting that the talents of young people in Turkmenistan are highly valued, Mr. Ambassador advised the students to make good use of the opportunities created for them and wished them great success in the future.
