On the occasion of the 140th anniversary of the founding of Ashgabat and the International Day for Multilateralism and Diplomacy for International Peace, the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan jointly with the Central Council of the Youth Organization of Turkmenistan named after Magtymguly organizes an online talent competition among higher education institutions of the country, which is to be held in English and dedicated to the foreign policy achievements of Turkmenistan.
REGULATIONS OF THE COMPETITION
I. General Provisions
1. The current Regulation defines the goals, objectives, procedure and conditions of the talent competition.
2. The main purpose of the competition:
- To realize in practice the state policy aimed at training talented professionals, opening up creativeness, skills, abilities and talents of young people, guided by the great work and valuable advice of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov aimed at educating the healthy young generation, ensuring their modern education and vocational training, developing their language skills, upbringing talented people needed for our country in the prosperous epoch of the powerful state.
- In the new era of historical transformations, Turkmenistan is open to the world and is advocating its love for peace and harmony, and carrying out large-scale reforms for the social and economic development of the country. In this regard, it is important to train international experts needed for the diplomatic service of our country, to bring the education system of the country in line with the rapidly growing world education standards, taking into account the growing activities of Turkmenistan on the international arena;
- To implement the instructions of the President on the in-depth teaching of foreign languages to young people and the improvement of linguistics.
II. Procedure of the Competition:
The competition is held among students from higher education institutions of the country. Each of the higher education institutions of the country shall have one team consisting of four students. The information on the competition will be posted on the websites yashlar.gov.tm and iirmfa.edu.tm.
The competition will be held in two stages in the following order:
- first round - Teams must make a presentation in English dedicated to the 140th anniversary of the founding of Ashgabat (three minutes for monologue, poetry, art reading, etc.);
- second round - Winning teams in the first round compete by answering five questions posed by the judges in English. The winning team is declared the winner of the competition.
III. Terms of the competition:
Teams wishing to participate in the competition shall register by the website of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan on iirmfa.edu.tm by May 15, 2021.
The competition is to be held on May 19, 2021 on the online ZOOM platform, and teams from each higher educational institution shall answer questions prepared in advance by a special team of pre-formed teams. One point is for each correct answer. The questions will be from the book by esteemed President “Turkmenistan - the heart of the Great Silk Road”, from the textbook by A. Rahmanov “Fundamentals of Diplomatic Service”, historical sources on international events held in the capital, Ashgabat, during the period of 2007-2021. Each question is given a minute to answer.
A special impartial panel of jurors shall be set up to give a fair assessment to the participants of the talent competition. The jurors shall score one point for each answer of the students and announce a winner according to the summed scores. The decision of the jury shall be final.
The members of the winning team will be awarded with diplomas of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and valuable gifts of the Central Council of the Youth Organization of Turkmenistan named after Magtymguly, and the higher education institution of the prize-winning group will be awarded with TV “Tolkun”.
