Meeting of the Rector of the IIR MFA of Turkmenistan with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan
On February 5, 2021, in the format of an online videoconference meeting was held between the rector of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Jumamurad Gurbangeldyev and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Turkmenistan Mr. Yamamoto Hiroyuki.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the importance and main directions of bilateral political, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian relations, the possibilities of their development and the implementation of measures aimed at expanding the scale of scientific ties.
As noted during the meeting, the traditional sphere of interstate cooperation is long-term interaction in the field of education and science. In this context, the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan is also actively making its significant contribution to the development of this direction. Over the years the Institute has hosted student delegations from Japan. Also students of the University participated in the Japanese youth exchange program "MIRAI".
It was noted that international cooperation of higher educational institutions of the two countries are actively developing. Lectures were held to students of Universities of our country by representatives of Japan.
An example of this is the speech of representatives of the academic and political circles of Japan, which can be attributed to the meeting of the specialist of the National Research Institute of Defense of the Ministry of Defense of Japan Mr. Hyoudou Shinji and Mr. Yasuzuka Masaaki with the leadership of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and a lecture course for students , as well as a tour of the institute. It is worth recalling that the guests of this meeting were also staff of the Japanese diplomatic mission in Turkmenistan Mr. Tomizawa Hisanori and Mr.Yoshino Shuntaro.
A Turkmen delegation consisting of representatives of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan visited Japan several times in order to study advanced scientific experience in training highly qualified personnel, state structure and the work of the Japanese parliament.
It was noted that for a deep study of the cultural and spiritual characteristics of the "Land of the Rising Sun" Japanese is taught as a second foreign language at the Institute of International Relations for mastering important language skills. This fact confirms that relations between countries are becoming closer and more significant.
At the end of the meeting the sides put forward a number of proposals for the further development of Turkmen-Japanese relations in the field of science and education.
