During the lecture, there was an exchange of questions about Albuquerque, the sister city of Ashgabat, its history, culture and places of interest. As Mr. Timothy Matthew Keller noted the concept of “twin-city” appeared soon after the Second World War to strengthen friendly relations between cities of various countries in culture, sports, historical study, economic development, exchange of experience of urban building and others. In addition, the guest told about the partnership of twin-cities of Albuquerque and Ashgabat. It was noted that more than 30 years ago, the mayors of Albuquerque and Ashgabat signed the document on twin-cities. Throughout 30 years, representatives of two cities participated in important programs on development of digital technologies, adjustment of relations between businessmen, preservation of cultural heritage and environment protection.
The regular holding of such meetings is evidence of the enhanced bilateral relations between Turkmenistan and the United States of America.
