On November 14, 2024, at the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Malaysia to Turkmenistan Mohd Suhaimi Ahmed Tajuddin conducted a training session on Malaysia's chairmanship of ASEAN in 2025. Students and teachers of the institute participated in the training session.
Malaysia's Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Turkmenistan gave a lecture about the foundation of ASEAN, its principles and current political-diplomatic, trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian activities, including the long-term future programs in these areas. He talked about the importance of the programs and the main principles of Malaysia's foreign policy and its relations with ASEAN countries.
As we know, the Association of South-East Asian Nations (ASEAN) was established in 1967 on the basis of the Bangkok Declaration, and now it unites 10 countries located in this region. Headquartered in Jakarta, Indonesia, the organization focuses mainly on the economic and trade sector. As a member state of this organization, Malaysia is also actively participating in the programs of this organization and will be head of the organization in 2025.
The training course greatly helped the future international experts studying at the National School of Turkmen Diplomacy to study international relations and diplomacy.
