TRAINING ON WATER DIPLOMACY AND INTERNATIONAL WATER LAW
On February 28, 2024, a training on water diplomacy, international water law and rational use of water resources was held for representatives of this area at the Archabil Hotel in Ashgabat. The training is aimed at familiarizing with the international legal regulation of water resources in the world and Central Asia, introducing the concept of “water cooperation” and its relationship with water diplomacy, presenting educational modules on the rational use of water resources and water diplomacy, as well as the participants were introduced to the key aspects and tools of water diplomacy. The training was organized by the Regional Environmental Center for Central Asia, Regional Project on water resources and environment, together with the State Committee of Water Management of Turkmenistan.
Representatives of the State Committee of Water Management of Turkmenistan, the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan, the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Turkmen Agricultural University named after S.A.Niyazov participated in the training.
During the training, project expert G. Kurtovezov introduced the participants to the training courses “On the rational use of water resources, the safety of hydraulic structures” and “Transboundary water cooperation”. Then, the expert spoke in detail about the cooperation of Turkmenistan with the countries of Central Asia on the use of transboundary watercourses.
At the end of the training, a discussion took place. Participants asked questions that interested them, and received meaningful answers.
