TRAINING COURSE ON WATER DIPLOMACY
On December 26, 2023, a training course was held at the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan with the participation of the Head of the Hydrometeorology Department of the Ministry of Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan S. Eeberenov. The theme of the course was “International cooperation on water resources of Turkmenistan and their rational use.”
At the training course, a representative of the Ministry of Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan emphasized that in the socio-economic strategy of the honorable President, special importance is given to the rational use of water resources, which is an important condition for the harmonious development of the agricultural sector, environmental protection, and improvement of living conditions of the population. The lecturer also spoke in detail about the systematic implementation of the Action Plan for 2019-2025 for the implementation of the Concept for the development of the Turkmen Lake “Altyn Asyr” within the framework of water diplomacy. Turkmenistan contributes to the development of positive cooperation on issues of rational use of water resources and transboundary waters and promotes important initiatives in this area. In this regard, much attention is paid to compliance with international law and full consideration of the interests of all states in the region.
During the training course, the lecturer and students exchanged questions and answers on the topic under discussion.
