Course on Water Diplomacy
On December 21, 2022, a regular course on water diplomacy was held at the Center for the Priority Areas of Diplomacy of Turkmenistan established at the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan in attendance of the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to the Respublic of Armenia Muhammetgeldi Ayazov and students of the Institute. The seminar session was devoted to the current work on water issues between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Armenia.
During the seminar, the Ambassador Muhammetgeldi Ayazov spoke in detail about the ongoing work on the rational use of water in the region, and he also noted that the priorities of the policy of the two countries are environmental protection, care for nature, conservation of its resources for future generations, reasonable use of land and water resources to create good conditions for the life of the Turkmen people, to unite the efforts of the world community in achieving Sustainable Development Goals.
During the course, the importance of relying on universally recognized norms of international law, taking into account the interests of all countries of the region, the need to actively involve authoritative international organizations, primarily the UN, in solving water and energy issues, was emphasized. This session was very effective for the students and they received all the answers for their questions.
