A Training Session on “Social Media and US”
On December 21, 2024, at the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, a specialized training session entitled “Social Media and Us” was held by the “Gujurly Nesil” Educational Center. Sylap Atayev, a consultant of the “Gujurly Nesil” Educational Center, conducted the training.
Social networks play a significant role in our lives today. They are not only popular among adults, but also among the children. The excessive use of social networks by children and young people leads to a decrease in their mental and social functions, and their ability to learn and assimilate large amounts of information. Gradually, virtual friends replace traditional friends and young people lose the skills of “live” communication. Moreover, young people become addicted to social networks and think that the world revolves around social network sites. This activity can lead to sedentary behavior, which can result in obesity, poor posture, and eyestrain. Thus, social networks affect mental and physical health of people.
During the session, the consultant explained about the above-mentioned harms of social networks through various examples from a real life and gave some advice to the students about the proper use of the Internet and social media.
At the end of the session, students addressed to the mentor with several questions and received comprehensive answers to them.
