INTERNATIONAL ONLINE CONFERENCE
On May 14, 2026, the Diplomatic Academy of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy (UWED) hosted the International Conference entitled “Central Asia: A New Paradigm of Regional Development” in a hybrid format.
The conference was opened with welcoming remarks by the First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Rector of UWED, S. Safoev, the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Central Asia and Head of the UN Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia (UNRCCA), Kakha Imnadze, as well as the Acting Coordinator of OSCE Projects in Uzbekistan, S. Sizov.
The conference brought together high-level officials, diplomats, scientists, and researchers from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Turkey, Finland, and Uzbekistan. The Rector of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Gulshat Yusupova, delivered a presentation as part of the first session dedicated to the dynamics of cooperation in Central Asia and the formation of regional identity in international relations.
The conference featured four thematic sessions covering regional security and collective responses to global challenges, economic integration and transport connectivity as drivers of sustainable growth, as well as humanitarian cooperation, academic exchanges, and the formation of a common Central Asian identity. In total, more than a dozen distinguished speakers and scholars delivered presentations and shared their expert views.
The exchange of scientific and diplomatic perspectives presented constructive results. The International Conference concluded successfully.
