Conference Dedicated to the “International Year of Peace and Trust”
On January 15, 2025, a conference titled "International Year of Peace and Trust: Cooperation of Turkmenistan with the International Community" was held at the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. The event was attended by Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, heads of diplomatic missions of foreign states and international organizations, employees of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, representatives of the scientific and educational systems, creative youth, mass media, lecturers of higher educational institutions, as well as students.
As part of the conference, an exhibition of works of applied art was organized in the foyer of the institute, reflecting the independence, permanent neutrality, prosperous life of our country, and the history of our people. The works of the Esteemed President and Hero Arkadag, as well as the national values of the Turkmen people, arouse great interest among the participants.
At the beginning of the event, an artistic and musical composition prepared by the students of the National School of Turkmen Diplomacy was performed. The composition highlighted the principles of peace, neutrality, friendship, and brotherhood of Independent Turkmenistan, as well as the initiatives of our country promoting in the interests of universal well-being.
The conference featured speeches from Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov, the head of the UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy in Central Asia Kaha Imnadze, UN Resident Coordinator in Turkmenistan Dmitry Shlapachenko, representative of the UN Children's Fund in Turkmenistan Jalpa Ratna, representative of the World Health Organization in Turkmenistan Egor Zaitsev, and Deputy Permanent Representative of the UN Development Program in Turkmenistan Tomisa Paovic.
As noted in the speeches, at the initiative of Turkmenistan, the UN General Assembly unanimously adopted a resolution declaring 2025 the "International Year of Peace and Trust" with the co-authorship of 86 countries. This became a clear indication of the recognition of Turkmenistan's large-scale activities aimed at ensuring global peace and sustainable development. The significance of the remarkable poem "Turkmenistan – Homeland of Peace and Trust," written by the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Hero Arkadag, was also emphasized. The speakers highlighted that the celebration of the International Year of Peace and Trust coincides with the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's permanent neutrality, enhancing the significance of 2025, which will be inscribed in golden letters in the glorious history of the Turkmen people.
During the event, musical performances by the students added a solemn touch to the significant occasion. The speeches praised the large-scale activities initiated by the National Leader of the Turkmen people and confidently carried out by the Esteemed President to strengthen peace, brotherhood, and prosperity throughout the world. At the end of the meeting, the participants adopted an address to the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
