International Conference “Jamyg-ut Taryh” (“Jamyg-ut History”) Work by Salyr Baba and World History”
On December 21,2022, the international conference “ “Jamyg-ut Taryh” (“Jamyg-ut History”) Work by Salyr Baba and World History “ was held at the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. The meeting was attended by the representatives of the National Commission of Turkmenistan for UNESCO Affairs and the Institute of Language, Literature and National Manuscripts named after Magtymguly of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan,the Institute of History and Archaeologyof the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan,the Institute of Literature named after Nizami Ganjavi of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ankara University of the Republic of Turkiye, Balikesir University of the Republic of Turkiye, Ege University of the Republic of Turkiye, Pamukkale University of the Republic of Turkiye, Tallin University of the Republic of Estonia and Qasimia University of the UAE.
During the conference, the participants discussed at the only copy of the “Jamyg-ut Taryh” manuscript by Salyr Baba Gulaly’s Son, kept in the Intitute of Language, Literature and National Manuscripts named after Magtymguly of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan. This manuscript is of great importance for the study of the history of the Turkic peoples and the world.
In the XV–XVI centuries, when Salyr Baba lived, most of the works were written in the Arabic and Persian languages, unlike this manuscript, which was written in the old Turkmen language. This work describes not only the history of the Turkic peoples and the world, but also informs about eloquent and beautiful calligraphy of Salyr Baba.
During the conference, the participants emphasized the importance of preserving this manuscript, working on it, translating it into the different world languages and including it in the UNESCO List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
