An Online Methodological Seminar
On November 22, 2024, the Seyitnazar Seydi Turkmen State Pedagogical Institute hosted an
online methodological seminar titled “New Methodological Approaches for
Enhancing Environmental Education in Higher Educational Institutions.” The
seminar was attended virtually by members and student representatives of the
UNESCO Club “Culture of Peace” of the Institute of International Relations of the
Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. Participants included professors,
educators and students from universities across the country, as well as members of
various UNESCO chairs and clubs operating in Turkmenistan.
The presentations highlighted Turkmenistan’s international initiatives in
environmental protection and the extraordinary efforts of the esteemed President of
Turkmenistan in preserving the ecological system. The discussions also focused on
how environmental education is taught in higher educational institutions and its
significance in fostering ecological awareness among students.
Currently, Turkmenistan is implementing substantial measures to enhance
the environmental knowledge of its youth. The country actively promotes
international initiatives on environmental conservation and is a signatory to several
United Nations environmental conventions. Notably, a Turkmen delegation
participated in the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the
United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, held in Baku from
November 11–22.
